We got to spend five days of fun family time with the G's. The girls had a GNO with a yoga class and afterwards pizza and wine (for the big girls) in an up and coming area. Watched our nephew play indoor soccer. The boys went to see the new Star Wars movie. Grandee cooked our traditional Christmas Eve Eve dinner...sauerkraut & mushroom soup, stuffed whiting fish with pierogi and coleslaw. On Christmas Eve some of us went to see the animated movie The Star and then Mass and a lovely dinner at my sister's house. It was another Black & Gold Christmas (Go Steelers) with all the G's on Christmas Day. Before the game we had to get aboard. Pap outdid himself with his train scavenger hunt this year, everyone was mailed tickets beforehand and he punched them before getting aboard. He surprised us all by donning a blazer with a pocket watch and a made his own conductor hat. He even put us in teams: an adult with one of the grandkids. It was a difficult hunt but lots of laughs. The day after Christmas we spent a quiet day with Grandee and Pap before heading home.
Every year gets better and better and I am constantly reminded to be grateful for the memories that we make together with our family. It makes me feel silly for having the feelings I used to get looking at FB photos of families and their kids on Christmas morning. These feelings used to make me feel a little down to see some of the typical kid memories that we don't experience with Kevin...but no more. Something else I noticed this year is that it is easier to get Kevin to smile for photos and sometimes he will even stop and pose when he sees someone taking a photo. Thank you for blessing us with many good memories G's and H's!
