Summer Work and Play

Things slowed down during the month of June and we had more time to spend on chores and some new activities. Kevin can help with bringing the garbage cans up the driveway, unload the spoons from the dishwasher, rinse and load his dish and spoon into the dishwasher, load clothes into the washing machine and dryer, sorts clean laundry, he even helps fold a few shirts with a t-shirt folding board, vacuuming the carpet with help, open and close the curtains, and more. So one day we were running some errands at the store. Kevin found the toy aisle and picked up a toy he wanted. He looked so happy...this happened not too long ago when we were with Grandee...it was hard not to give in when he found something he really liked...so I rewarded him for his work around the house. We went to see a few movies this summer...Aladdin, Lion King, Toy Story. We also got to spend lots of time outside riding his new bike. We have a 1 mile route around the neighborhood that includes a small hill that he's been working on all summer...he's getting closer. He also rode his bike to our church which is one mile away a few times. We've been using our neighbor's basketball hoop to shoot hoops, sometimes with some of the boys in the neighborhood and sometimes as a family. I love this new activity! We also use another neighbor's driveway to ride the scooter...or his cousin's neighborhood. We've gone to the playground this summer and with help Kevin was able to conquer some of the climbing equipment. I never thought he would be able to attempt some of these climbing things. And of course, we continue to work on his Talker and other learning activities throughout the summer. It's been a good summer!
